Warranties

Simply Trade Windows and Doors warranty that all goods will be delivered free from any manufacturing and material defects. The following warranty is provided to the original purchaser of the goods and is non-transferable.

These guarantees are between the purchaser and Simply Trade Windows and Doors only.

Frames – uPVC profiles except roofline products are covered for a period of 10 years against weld failure and distorting in accordance with our system suppliers’ recommendations. The Company shall be under no liability whatsoever in respect of any defects or imperfections not guaranteed by the profile manufacturers.
Glazed units – glass sealed units are covered for a period of 10 years against the failure of the hermetical seals (i.e. misting between panes). The company shall be under no liability whatsoever for minor blemishes and imperfections not guaranteed by the glass manufactures. This guarantee does not cover breakage of glass after collection or delivery.
Hardware and moving parts – All ‘surface finishes’ to hardware such as handles, letter boxes and hinges can suffer degradation occasionally in the form of pitting, discolouration, tarnishing etc. due to certain circumstances. Unless it affects the product from functioning these items are covered only by a 1 year guarantee, against such degradation.
Fair wear and tear and misuse are not covered under warranty.
Warranties are from the date of collection or delivery of the job.

Claims must be made in writing with evidence (e.g.: photographs, videos, etc) and accompanied by proof of purchase.

The guarantee covers the supply only of any parts claimed from the list above, but does not cover the fitting of any items, or site visits for service calls etc.

Aluminium Products

Warranties

Frames – materials and workmanship 10 years. The Company shall be under no liability whatsoever in respect of any defects or imperfections not guaranteed by the profile manufacturers.
Glazed units – glass sealed units are covered for a period of 5 years against the failure of the hermetical seals (i.e. misting between panes). The company shall be under no liability whatsoever for minor blemishes and imperfections not guaranteed by the glass manufactures. This guarantee does not cover breakage of glass after collection or delivery.

Warranties

10-Year Surface Guarantee Conditions

The guarantee is non-transferable. Claims must be submitted in writing, accompanied by proof of purchase.
No guarantee if the material coated is sited within direct influence of zones of salt water (within 500 metres of high tide line), Acid industrial, or other aggressive emission sources, which are known or believed to be damaging or corrosive to thermosetting powder coatings. For sites within 500m to 2000m, the guarantee is limited to 3 years, providing a marine finish has been specified.
We cannot guarantee that, during the powder coating process, the polyamide thermal break between the aluminium profiles will be covered. It may, due to the nature of the process, be only partially or not coated. No guarantee is given that when the aluminium frames are powder coated, an even distribution or any coating will be present on the polyamide thermal break. The thermal break is a secondary profile and not deemed to be part of the decorative primary surface.
No repair to coatings shall be deemed necessary if less than 5% of the exposed external surface is affected.

General exclusions from the guarantee:

Slowing down or delaying repairs, testing or inspection.
Damage due to the use of products in a way they were not designed or intended to be used.
Damage due to cleaning or attack of the materials by non-neutral chemicals.
Wilful, intentional or accidental damage.
Damage caused by incorrect installation or poor workmanship by not following normal working practices.
Damage caused by changes made to the profiles or materials afterwards.
Normal ageing caused by mechanical contact and rubbing of items or objects on the surface. Damage caused by significant temperature changes or thermal shocks. Damage caused by poor water drainage, pollutants, or aggressive environments.

Points to bear in mind when specifying organic coated aluminium:

No organic paint coating, whether polyester or acrylic (or indeed if the substrate is PVC-U) is ‘maintenance free’ and that is especially applicable when installing in coastal districts or areas with high pollutions.

Modern organic finishes which we apply to architectural aluminium are practically identical to the types used on motor vehicles and therefore require a similar degree of care and attention which people typically lavish on their car bodywork.

The frequency of cleaning relates directly to the decorative standard which the householder wishes to maintain and the environment where the units are situated.

All paints ’chalk’ to some extent in service and a reduction in gloss level will occur. The original finish can be easily restored using the procedure in Note C of the Cleaning and Maintenance information document.

Please note if the cleaning and maintenance information is not followed, the guarantee is invalidated.

Cleaning and Maintenance Information for Aluminium Powder-Coated Windows & Doors

In areas within the direct influence zones of salt water, industrial chemical plants, blast furnaces or other aggressive emission sources, the window should be cleaned at least every three months. In a relatively cleaner environment, every six months should be sufficient.

In carrying out regular maintenance outside, the internal surfaces are frequently neglected. After a period of time, grime and deposits from tobacco smoke, coal and oil fires, etc. can discolour the inside of the window frame and it is recommended that these should be cleaned at least once per year.
Procedure
Wash down with clean warm water containing a non-alkaline liquid detergent (in a concentration which can be handled safely with bare hands) using a non-abrasive cloth, sponge or soft bristle brush. This will remove grime, grease and any excess chalking. All ridges, grooves, joints and drainage channels where salt or other deposits can collect should be well washed out, thus preventing corrosion sites from occurring.

Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Dry using a soft cloth or leather.
Where a reduction in gloss is observed, chalking is evident, or excessive staining has occurred, an approved renovating cream may be carefully applied with a non-abrasive cloth.

Note: T-Cut or similar automotive paint restorer may be used, provided it is not too abrasive.
Care must be taken not to abrade sharp corners of the section or glazing beads too heavily where the paint film is normally thinner, and it should be remembered that this ration should not be carried out too frequently.
Polish with a soft cloth to restore gloss and colour uniformity.
For extra protection, a wax polish can be applied once or twice a year, again polishing with a soft cloth to restore glass.
The friction stays and locking mechanisms should be lubricate periodically to minimise wea and to ensure smooth operation.
Care should be taken to avoid applying lubricant to the friction pads as this will impair their braking action. The resistance of the pads can be adjusted, if necessary, with the brass screws provided in each pad.
Hinges and locking mechanisms should be lubricated periodically to minimise wear and to ensure smooth operation.

Composite Doors

Warranties

These guarantees are between the purchaser and Simply Trade Windows and Doors only.

The Company warrants that, for a period of 5 years from the date of collection or delivery that its white PVC-U profiles and woodgrain foils shall maintain (i) colour stability (ii) impact strength and (iii) shape retention.
The Company warrants that, for a period of 10 years (except for the Darkwood and Oak finish which will be 5 years) from the date of manufacture, its composite door set for domestic use as follows: (i) will not fade outside accepted tolerances contained within GRS (Grey Scale Rating) 3-4 according to BS EN ISO 11341 for paints and varnishes; and (ii) in respect of door leafs only (ii) in normal use the doors will not crack, chip, blister, flake or peel.
Thermal Movement will occur as with UPVC and Timber products and is normal, as the product will revert back to within its natural flat plane tolerance as long as the installation guidelines are observed. Liability for Thermal Movement is therefore excluded unless the Customer has fitted an approved reinforcement strip to the relevant Goods (such reinforcement strip can be purchased from the Company by the Customer if required).
The Company warrants that (i) for a period of 5 years from the date of manufacture for those part of the Goods which are hardware (including door hinges, lock sets, handles) and (ii) for a period of 10 years from the date of manufacture, its stainless steel furniture and ERA Vectis locking system, shall continue to function satisfactorily. These warranties shall not apply where handles, hinges and locking system have been subjected to stresses and operating forces beyond recommended levels as stipulated by the GGF guidelines and British Standards Code of Practice.
The Company warrants that, for a period of 10 years from the date of manufacture, its composite door glass units will be free from (i) obstruction of vision arising from deposition of moisture or deterioration of inner glass, subject always to such units being maintained in accordance with any guidance provided by the Company. This warranty excludes any breach caused by (i) undue impact or any neglect; (ii) misuse; (iii) faulty installation; (iv) building subsidence; (v) wilful or neglectful damage or excessive wear and tear (vi) modifications/alterations made post installation; (viii) any Act of God.
The Company shall not be liable for any failure of the Goods to comply with Conditions.
Where failure arises by reason of wear and tear, willful damage and negligence the company shall not be liable under this warranty.
The Customer should notify the Company within 72 hours of collection or delivery by telephone (followed by confirmation in writing within 48 hours of the initial telephone notification), in writing or via the Company’s web notification facility within 7 days of delivery or as soon as reasonably practicable. The Company may, within 15 days of receiving such notice inspect the Goods; the Customer, if so required by the Company, shall take all steps necessary to enable the Company to do so.
Where any valid claim in respect of a breach of warranty given under these Conditions the Company shall be entitled at the Company’s sole discretion to: (i) repair or replace the Goods (or the part in question) free of charge; or, or (iii) refund to the Customer the price of the Goods (or a proportionate part of the price), and in each case, the Company shall have no further liability to the Customer. Any repaired or replaced Goods shall be delivered free of charge to the premises of the Customer (as agreed by the Customer and at the reasonable convenience of the Company) or be made available to the Customer for collection from the Companies premises.
